Franklin fire substation opens
A new fire substation in Franklin years in the making is now operational.
After lingering in limbo following initial construction, the state came through with funding to complete the project after Sen. Kevin Corbin and Rep. Karl Gillespie, both Macon County natives, were able to procure what was needed.
Senator recognizes sheriffs after narcotics operation

Macon County cancels Burningtown-Iotla Fire Department contract
After over a year of discussion, Macon County has canceled is contract with the Burningtown-Iotla Fire Department and has begun working toward changing the Cowee Fire Department’s contract to provide permanent coverage to the areas BIFR used to have jurisdiction over.
