A new exhibition celebrating the beauty, significance and inspiration found in the waterways of Haywood County, “Go with the Flow” will be on display through Nov. 2 in the Haywood Handmade Gallery at the Haywood County Arts Council on Main Street in Waynesville.
“Go with the Flow” brings together artwork inspired by the Pigeon River Watershed and the many rivers, creeks, and streams that shape Haywood County. Artists were encouraged to explore water not only as a physical presence, but also as a source of movement, reflection, change, connection, and inspiration.
The exhibition features a variety of artistic mediums and perspectives, highlighting the many ways artists experience and interpret the waterways that are such an important part of our community and landscape.
“Water is such an integral part of life in Haywood County, and it has long been a source of inspiration for artists,” said HCAC Executive Director Tonya Harwood. “‘Go with the Flow’ gives us a chance to celebrate the beauty of our waterways while also reminding us of our responsibility to care for them. We are excited to have Haywood Waterways with us during the opening reception to help connect the artwork with the real-world importance of protecting our local waterways.”
