Question: Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of information about “fiber maxxing” on-line. How much fiber should I be trying to get each day?
Answer: Most of us should aim for at least 25-35 grams of fiber per day ( 25 grams of fiber each day for women and closer to 35 grams/day for men)
Fiber is found in:
- Fruits, Vegetables, Beans
- Whole grains like oats, whole wheat bread, popcorn, brown rice, whole grain cereals
- Seeds and nuts like chia seeds, walnuts, pecans

Another way to get fiber is by adding psyllium husk (you can find this in the fiber section of Ingles Markets over the health/beauty section) to liquids.
If you don’t consume much fiber now, try and increase your intake gradually and drink plenty of water.
Getting your fiber from a variety of sources will be most beneficial for gut health.
Having adequate fiber in your diet may have benefts:
- better bowel health
- possibly lowering cholesterol
- making you feel more satiated (full)
