Join Haywood Waterways Association on the West Fork of the Pigeon River for an Aquatic Ecology Workshop.
The workshop will be led by HWA local guide Shannon Rabby, certified wildlife biologist and faculty in the Haywood Community College Natural Resources department.
Attendees will participate in aquatic macroinvertebrate surveys, snorkeling and other aquatic activities with the assistance of HCC Fish and Wildlife Management Technology students. No experience is required. The workshop will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 18. Participants will meet on the south side of Lake Logan off Lake Logan Road and follow the signage for parking, as there is limited cell service. Make sure to pack a lunch and bring appropriate sun protection. Water sandals or other appropriate footwear is a must. Snorkels, masks and other gear will be provided by Haywood Waterways Association.
The event is free for members and a $5 donation for nonmembers. Haywood Waterways memberships start at $25. Space is limited to 20 individuals. You must register no later than July 16 by contacting Katy at 828.476.4667, ext. 13, or katy@haywoodwaterways.org.
