On Aug. 1, the American Museum of the House Cat will host a Rainbow Bridge anniversary for Esmer. The museum invites the public to be a part of this day of remembrance as it welcomes his mom, Ülkü Gözen Stewart, for a meet-and-greet and learn the impact this special kitty had on all who met him or read his many stories published in Turkish newspapers.
This brunette kitty became the muse for two children’s books, soon-to-be translated into English and only available at the museum. He was a voice for the voiceless as his popularity became increasingly apparent among the citizens of Turkey, and he has been featured in many other popular periodicals and magazines.
His ninth life ended early this year. The impact he has made on the world is not over and will live on eternally inside the Museum of the House Cat in Sylva. Visitors will be able to meet him through stories told and see the beginning of the museum’s newest collection, Cats in Culture.
