Jackson County Board of Elections announced the winner of the “I Voted” sticker contest.
Director Amanda Allen announced Naomi Pratt, 7, as the winner. Her design features an eagle with two red, white and blue stars, along with large lettering in red, white and blue reading,“I VOTED.”
“I chose the eagle because there is an eagle at East Laporte,” said Pratt. “My favorite spot to watch him is next to the river. My brother and I named him Talon. He lives in a pine tree. Eagles are my favorite bird!”
Allen launched the contest in early May and is excited about the input from the community. In total, they received nearly 40 entries in the contest from K-8 students here in Jackson County.
The top 10 entries were then submitted to the public for their vote…and vote they did. Nearly 300 folks voted to determine the winning design, Allen said.
