Lazy Hiker to rock out
Jam-rock ensemble Prophets of Time will hit the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at Lazy Hiker Brewing in Sylva.
A multi-genre blending rock band hailing from the mountains of Western North Carolina, the Prophets of Time are composed of six freewheeling spirits, the culmination of which being an energetic live show built around dance-able rock-n-roll music.
Carden to discuss Christmas traditions
Gary Carden will do an “old Christmas” program at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
Carden will discuss many of the old superstitions and beliefs about Christmas and cover traditional celebrations such as serenading, dumb suppers, and the “lost” 12 days of Christmas.

Indie, soul at Mountain Layers
Florida-based indie/soul singer-songwriter Shane Meade will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Mountain Layers Brewing Company in Bryson City.
Hailing from Elkins, West Virginia, Meade is a self-taught late bloomer who borrowed an old guitar from his father.
