DEI’s intent is honorable

To the Editor:

An MD recently expressed opinion regarding Trump wanting DEI to die.

All his remarks are accurate and no one would disagree with them if in fact employers followed them. The doctor doesn’t seem to recognize that there are many racists in this country.

Trump wants DEI to DIE

To the Editor:

Since President Trump, by the will of the majority of Americans, has come into office he has given a multitude of executive orders striking down failed policies of the Biden administration. None are as infamous as the DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) programs.

Man who shot viral video at local dump sues Haywood sheriff, dump owner

A Prince George’s County, Maryland, man whose viral video of a confrontation with a group at a dump in Haywood County drew outrage and polarized viewers has said he will file a federal civil rights lawsuit against several parties, including Haywood County Sheriff Bill Wilke.

We must cure this sickness

To the Editor:

Western Carolina University is only one of many public institutions being infected with the disease of Trumpism. Single-handedly Trump has mandated that diversity can no longer be promoted in hiring, curriculum, and even in student populations.

Sylva statue demeans Memorial Day display

To the Editor:

Surprised at writer’s naivete

To The Editor:

I am really surprised at the innocence of the letter writer in the issue of April 23-29.

The new sheriff wants DEI to DIE

To the Editor:

Since President Trump, by the will of the majority of American voters, has come into office he has given a multitude of executive orders striking down failed policies of the Biden administration. None are as infamous as the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) programs.

It’s time to stand against hate

To the Editor:

I am a retired military officer (veteran); senior citizen; middle class; have grandchildren that are part of the LBGQ+ community; live in a rural area; have a grandchild still in school; and, I am a female.

Silenced: 307 words, phrases and acronyms Trump doesn’t want you to use

Whether you’re Black, Hispanic, Indigenous or White — LGBTQ+ or cisgender — if you’re thinking about promoting equity and inclusion in historically marginalized communities by combating institutionalized discrimination, racism and sexism, congratulations! You just committed thoughtcrime, because some words are more equal than others.

Now, all lines are blurred

To the Editor:

I was judged rather harshly for a letter, by no less than six people in three newspapers, for doubting the average American voter's capacity to distinguish fact from fiction, truth from falsehoods.
