Hosting a concert to raise funds to pay its annual liability insurance, Misfit Mountain will welcome The Riverside from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the shelter in Clyde.
Known for their signature house concerts and unplugged encores, The Riverside travels across the very landscapes that inspire their music to play intimate folk shows. The trio believes that music is meant to be experienced live and in community, which is why they return year after year to living rooms, backyards, and gathering places throughout North America.
Misfit Mountain is a no-kill animal rescue that serves Western North Carolina and beyond. It has become best known for its summer camp program that temporarily houses animals belonging to people going through hardships like addiction, homelessness, or a domestic violence crisis. Its work was crucial in the wake of Hurricane Helene, when so many people and animals were displaced.
“We focus on helping animals with either behavior or medical issues or just that need extra time and patience that they might not get in an overcrowded shelter,” said Misfit Mountain Founder Printer McIntosh.
There will be a food truck onsite and drinks available for purchase. There will be a bonfire following the performance. Limited campsites are available on the property for overnight guests. Tickets are $43.56 and can be purchased at eventbrite.com/e/live-backyard-show-with-the-riverside-folk-tickets-1995052908956.
