Creativity takes center stage Sept. 18–20 during “Arts Weekend Haywood,” a countywide celebration bringing together the Haywood County Studio Tour, local galleries, artist demonstrations, exhibitions, live theatre, music, and more.
Visitors can catch a show at the Haywood Arts Regional Theatre (Waynesville), enjoy live music through Rock for Relief at The Current Tavern (Canton), explore the Professional Crafts Alumni Exhibition at Haywood Community College (Clyde), and visit galleries and creative spaces throughout the county.
Artist demonstrations will take place at Grateful Table, Cold Mountain Art Collective, Salmagundi Gallery, Green Hill Gallery, and other locations.
The Shelton House barn will host a group of studio tour artists, giving visitors a chance to meet artists and see their work. Guests can also tour Shelton House and learn about Haywood County’s rich handmade craft history and its continuing craft tradition.
Held Sept. 19-20, the Haywood County Studio Tour is a free, self-guided experience that opens the doors to artists’ working studios across the county. It’s a chance to meet local artists, see their creative processes firsthand, explore unique studio spaces, and purchase original work directly from the makers.
While visiting the Haywood Handmade Gallery at 86 N. Main Street in Waynesville, be sure to check out the Haywood County Arts Council’s (HCAC) special silent auction featuring wonderful artwork and creative pieces. Proceeds from the auction benefit the HCAC.
