Man dead, second injured in Cherokee shooting

One man died and another was critically injured during a shooting that occurred at 11:22 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, in Cherokee. 

The Cherokee Indian Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at the McDonald’s located at 748 Casino Trail and upon arrival found two males with gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the second was airlifted to Mission Hospital. 

A suspect is in custody, and the CIPD and FBI are investigating the incident. As of press time, no charges had been filed in federal court and a spokesperson for the CIPD declined to give any additional details or to name the suspect and victims.
