On Monday, Sept. 21, the series, “Where We Live: History, Nature, and Culture,” will present the program Franklin Farm Hub: Providing Food and Land Access.
Over 20% of households in Macon County experience food insecurity even as the prices of food continue to rise. At the same time, farmers in our region face difficulties ranging from farmland loss to challenges in infrastructure, and markets. Learn how the Franklin Farm Hub is working at the intersection of these issues, addressing food access while supporting local farmers in Western North Carolina. In this presentation, Chris Peterson, the manager of Franklin Farm Hub’s community farm, will discuss the organization’s charitable food programs already making an impact as well as the development underway and his hopes for the future of their 94-acre community farm in the heart of downtown Franklin.
