This week I talked to a friend in her 30’s who told me she’s lost 30 lbs…
not in a month…
not even in a few months..
it took her a year and a half.
(slower weight loss is often more sustainable)
She was overweight and it had begun affecting her health.
(she was classified as having prediabetes)
She didn’t take a medication.
(this isn’t a condemnation of taking medications and especially not medications for obesity).
She didn’t change her exercise habits.
(she was already very active)
She didn’t intentionally cut out carbs.
She didn’t add more protein.
She attributed this weight loss to ADDING more FIBER to her meals
(not fiber supplements) by eating more fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, seeds & whole grains.
Sometimes it’s not about what you take away from your diet…
it’s what you ADD
because in the end she was probably displacing higher calorie foods
with those lower calorie and high fiber foods.
Remember, everyone is different…
everyone’s life and path are unique.
