Adam Bigelow of Bigelow’s Botanical Excursions is giving folks an opportunity to learn about botany while enjoying an adult beverage.

This fun and informative series of classes will be held at Sante Wine Bar in downtown Sylva over the course of six Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. There will be wine service at the classes. Cost of the class does not include alcohol purchases. Classes will be limited to 25 people per session.

“Foraging for Wild Foods and Medicine” will be held from May 26 to June 30.

The land around us contains many plants and fungi that can be gathered and used to help feed ourselves and help keep us and our families healthy and well. Participants will spend time in the classroom and in the field to learn about the many different edible and medicinal species that can be found in and foraged from the woods. This course will lean strongly on the ethics and rules of foraging to help ensure future harvests and on safety and proper identification of forest products.

Class costs on a sliding scale of between $140 and $200 per student, not including wine purchases. Each attendee gets to choose how much they want to pay within that range. To register, send an email to bigelownc@gmail.com.
