The Board of Directors of Shining Rock Classical Academy announced the appointment of Heather Wilson as executive school director.

Following a comprehensive leadership selection process that included parent survey feedback, staff vision-casting sessions, candidate presentations, leadership interviews and consultation with educational leadership experts, the Board unanimously selected Wilson to lead the next chapter of Shining Rock Classical Academy, the school said in a press release.

โ€œWe were seeking a leader who understands our school community, values our mission, and possesses the experience and vision necessary to guide SRCA into the future,โ€ said Board Chair Alyson Weimar. โ€œHeather Wilson demonstrated her commitment to students, families, faculty and the long-term success of our school throughout the selection process. We are excited for the fresh ideas, positive energy and innovative thinking that she will bring as she leads SRCA forward.โ€

Wilson brings more than a decade of experience in education and school leadership, serving students and families both internationally and within Western North Carolina. Prior to joining Shining Rock Classical Academy, she served as Principal and Director of Hsinchu American School in Taiwan.

Her educational leadership experience also includes service in private Christian education and, according to the release, a proven track record of building strong partnerships between schools and their communities.

“Throughout her career, Wilson has been recognized for creating student-centered learning environments, supporting teacher growth and development, and implementing programs that improve both student engagement and academic achievement,” the release states.

Most recently, Wilson has served Shining Rock Classical Academy over the past two years as both a classroom teacher and Assistant Director. During that time, she has developed strong relationships with students, staff and families while gaining a deep understanding of the schoolโ€™s mission, culture, opportunities and challenges, the release said.ย

The release noted that as executive school director, Wilson will focus on strengthening academic excellence, supporting faculty and staff, expanding family engagement, enhancing experiential learning opportunities and “building upon the strong foundation that has made SRCA a unique educational choice for families throughout Western North Carolina.”

โ€œI am honored by the trust the Board has placed in me,โ€ said Wilson. โ€œShining Rock is a special community with incredible students, dedicated educators, and supportive families. I look forward to working alongside our staff, families, Board and community partners as we continue to build a school experience that challenges students academically, develops character and prepares young people to make a positive impact in the world.โ€

The Board remains committed to supporting a smooth leadership transition and continuing its work to strengthen the long-term sustainability, culture, and mission of Shining Rock Classical Academy.

The Board of Directors invites families, staff, and community members to attend a drop in Meet and Greet with Ms. Wilson on June 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Shining Rock Classical Academy. Light refreshments will be served.
