Everything is as it should be.

Everything is as it should be.

The holidays are a special and festive time of year, but they can also be stressful or heartbreaking for some. Maybe it’s the long list of activities and social engagements, or maybe it’s overspending or overeating, or perhaps it’s missing a loved one who's no longer here on earth. Whatever the reason, there are some important things to keep in mind so we stay grounded, relaxed and in a good mental space to enjoy this cherished season.

For the past 11 days, I’ve been listening to Deepak Chopra’s 21 Days of Abundance Meditation Series on Spotify. The series offers 15-minute segments for a span of 21 days which is the amount of time most people need to develop a habit. Chopra begins with a teaching and centering thought and then ends with a short meditation. I’ve been doing them early in the morning. They have been wonderful for my psyche and establishing a calm mindset before moving into a hectic day of work and parenting.

The segment from today really hit home in a lot of ways and I wanted to share a few key points with our Rumble readers in hopes it will offer you some encouragement and inspiration, whether it’s to manage the holiday season or for other reasons.

In this particular segment Chopra reminds the listener that everything is as it should be and then talks about the law of least effort. This law is one of the seven spiritual laws of success. Below is a transcript from the meditation. I listened to the entire mediation and then felt compelled to listen again and transcribe the words so I would remember it even further.

“The universe is an elegantly orchestrated symphony. When our body/mind is in concert with the universe, everything becomes spontaneous and effortless and the exuberance of the universe flows through us in joyful ecstasy. This is the essence of the law of least effort – trusting that everything in the universe is as it should be, in perfect harmony. Knowing this, we dance to the rhythm of the cosmos, living life in comfort and ease, shedding the belief that abundance is the result of struggle. The law of least effort tells us that we can do less and accomplish more but first we must practice acceptance. The more readily you accept the circumstances of your life as they are in this moment the easier life becomes. When you struggle against this moment, you’re actually struggling against the entire universe and while you may have intention for your life to change some day, accepting it as it is right now places you in the best position to obtain your goals. We have likely all heard the maxim, no pain no gain, that we have to work diligently to achieve what we want in life, However, the law of least effort teaches us that when we act in harmony with nature, established in the knowledge of our true self and motivated by love, we can create the success and good fortune we desire with effortless ease. Today, put the law of least effort into practice. Accept all people and circumstances in your life exactly as they are. Take responsibility for your life without blaming yourself, knowing everything is as it should be. Practice defenselessness and relinquish the need to convince or persuade others of your point of view.” -Deepak Chopra

His words struck a deep chord with me, particularly during this time of year. My mom passed away in 2016 and not having her with us at Christmas never gets easier, but I’m working to change my mindset and accept things as they are. I was sort of in a place of self-pity over the past few days and then I heard the day 11 segment from Deepak Chopra. It was as if he was speaking directly to me. Sometimes I get frustrated when my life isn’t going in the way I thought it would or if people aren’t meeting my expectations and just as the law of least effort says, when I think this way, it feels like I’m in direct opposition to the universe. I can actually feel the discord and it makes me irritable and frustrated. Going forward, I’m going to accept people and circumstances just as they are and trust that everything is as it should be.
