Q&A with Holistic Wellness Coach Beth Sanderson Hooper

Q&A with Holistic Wellness Coach Beth Sanderson Hooper

We always love talking with Beth Sanderson Hooper about health and wellness. Her experience and expertise are vast and her personality is infectious. After trying to manage body image issues by controlling and restricting her physical body, Beth learned that true healing only comes when we take an intentionally holistic approach as opposed to hyper-focusing on fitness and nutrition. As Beth says, “I understand now that working on ourselves only from the outside will never bring the peace we're all truly after.”

I have used Beth’s services myself and she is amazing. In fact, I’m at a good place in terms of fitness and nutrition so I only utilized her healing modalities such as guided meditation, reiki, breathwork, tapping and more. The amazing thing about Beth is she really assesses the whole person and tailors her services to what each person needs. If nothing else, thoroughly read her responses in today’s interview. She has such incredible insight to offer, especially if you’re feeling stuck despite doing all the “right” things physically. If you’re not sure of the next right step, reach out to Beth. She’ll steer you in the right direction.

Rumble: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into the coaching space.

Beth: I think mine is a relatively common story. I originally was interested in fitness and nutrition because I was so unhappy in my own skin. I mistakenly thought that if I could control my physical body, I would find happiness. But it didn't matter what my body looked like, I continued to struggle with my confidence and self-love, and ironically the harder I drove my body to this place of restriction and control, the less I loved myself. I was in this cycle for decades. The shift to health began to happen when I finally started seeing other women stepping into their power by working out to be stronger, not smaller. I wanted to learn more about how our bodies work and how to support myself in truly living my healthiest life. I became an NASM certified personal trainer in 2020 and added my nutrition coach certification in 2021, but I wanted more. Sam Miller is one of the leaders in the health and fitness space. I graduated from his Functional Nutrition and Metabolism school last fall. His program gave me the science behind why our bodies respond in the ways they do to the signals we're sending them through all of our daily choices. This year I've added the internal piece through a program called Total Recovery Practitioner that teaches subconscious reprogramming as well as getting certified as a reiki energy healer. My coaching is now truly holistic in the sense that I look at all the aspects of my clients' lives - body, mind, and spirit - because I understand now that working on ourselves only from the outside will never bring the peace we're all truly after. What we really want is to feel good in our bodies, to feel good about who we are and how we show up in the world, and that is what I'm helping women to do.

Rumble: What types of coaching services do you offer?

Beth: I've been writing personalized programs for my 1:1 coaching clients for over three years now, and these plans include fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle practices. My latest trainings in subconscious reprogramming and reiki energy healing have added an additional layer to what I am able to do for my clients. I also offer stand alone sessions in subconscious reprogramming and reiki. Subconscious reprogramming sessions are designed to help clients identify places in their lives where they are stuck and then harness the power of their minds for personal growth and transformation. Reiki energy healing is designed to bring you back into energetic alignment so that you leave with a renewed sense of balance, relaxation, and well-being.

Rumble: What is the main goal(s) with your clients?

Beth: My main goal is to help my clients hold the highest vision for themselves and then work strategically to achieve that vision. Many of us begin in that place of wanting to change our physical selves because we are deeply unhappy, and diet culture tells us that if we change our bodies then we will be happy, but that is often very untrue. What I want to help my clients realize is that they have all the tools available to achieve the lives they truly deserve. I want my clients to claim their personal power and achieve their greatest dreams.

Rumble: What is a common belief amongst your ideal clients that is untrue and unfounded?

Beth: I think it has to do with the idea again that somehow there's something wrong with us that needs to be fixed. That if we can make our outer selves “perfect,” we will be accepted, loved, affirmed. What is true is that we have been steeped in a culture that has taught us not to trust ourselves or our bodies, so we have to learn to trust our bodies' wisdom again, and we have to allow our bodies to trust us. The relationship we have with our bodies is just like any other relationship - we must show respect, listen, and honor their needs. Most of my clients first have to work on releasing this idea that their bodies must be conquered through hard work. Instead our bodies need attention, understanding, and love.

Rumble: What's something you do differently from other coaches?

Beth: I think the biggest difference in my coaching and most other coaches in the health space is that I am looking at the full picture. I understand the science behind our metabolism. I understand the importance of periodization in terms of fitness and nutrition. I understand that limiting beliefs will keep us from truly stepping into our ideal identities, and I understand the importance of nurturing our spirits. Rather than hiring two or three different coaches to tackle each of these aspects, I'm able to offer my clients the science and modalities that support the evolution of their entire being.

Rumble: What do you love about what you do?

Beth: I love delving into the science behind our bodily systems and educating my clients so that they can understand how their bodies are always trying to make the best choice for survival. I also love the science behind mindset and manifestation. Empowering my clients with a deeper understanding and respect for their bodies and minds is truly rewarding. I also love to celebrate with my clients their wins and am able to hold the space for them to step into their next highest version, even when they're not quite able to see it themselves.

Rumble: How can readers connect with you?

Beth: I am on both Facebook and Instagram. My website allows you to explore more about my story, my qualifications, the services I offer, client testimonials, and book a stand alone session or sign up for monthly 1:1 coaching.
