Elizabeth Zaleski will share her debut book, “The Trouble with Loving Poets and Other Essays on Failure,” at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.
From finding meaning in roadkill and trying to convince her father that psychedelic mushrooms won’t save his marriage to navigating family quirks, romantic misadventures and intestinal calamities, Zaleski explores life’s spectacular failures with humor and honesty. Her essays blend quirky personal experiences with universally recognizable truths.
Raised in rural northeast Ohio, Zaleski now lives outside Akron, where she works as an editor. Her essays have appeared in Hippocampus, The Normal School and The Missouri Review. She also curates greatfartsofliterature.com.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit citylightsnc.com or call 828.586.9499.
