Hello from Room 623 at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Owensboro, Kentucky. Just about six and a half hours from my humble abode in Waynesville. Russ Avenue to U.S. 276 to Interstate 40 and backroads through Southern Appalachia to get here. 

We hoped he’d die in his sleep, that we’d find him curled up in the bed in that old, familiar way, having slipped as comfortably and naturally from this dimension to the next as a river flows into the sea. 

As an adolescent male in the 1970s, you didn’t tell your other male friends you loved them, not at that time, not like the hugs and “love you brother” that is so common today. Just didn’t happen, at least not in the Southern military town of my childhood.

By Sabrina Matheny • Rumble Contributor | As Dr. Wayne Dyer alluded to in his book Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, I was “sick of my sickness.” In the past 2 years I have experienced personal losses that came as a shock. In a plea to my team of guides to receive help in detaching from the pain of rejection and failure I stumbled onto Jan Spiller’s book “Cosmic Love.” While it does not reveal the secrets of the universe, her wisdom does shed light on what the gifts of each of those relationships were and why I drew them into my life.

Jesus was an incredible teacher of divine love. Through his teachings we learn that we can all have a direct relationship with God giving us access to our divine human potential. During this Easter season as our old selves symbolically die, let us look at what it means to live a life of love in action. Let’s see how we can tune into the energy of compassion and extend it outward to those that cross our path. 

It’s Sunday, Feb. 13. The Super Bowl will be underway in about six hours. I’m sitting at a table in the depths of Orchard Coffee in downtown Waynesville. Large cup of coffee (with a shot of espresso) nearby. A breakfast sandwich and yogurt soon to be arriving.
