Chair resigns, Democratic gala lineup revised after NC-11 candidates protest

A blistering letter signed by four Democratic candidates for Congress in North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District is raising questions about party neutrality in primaries, calling the party’s decision to include only one congressional candidate — Jamie Ager — as the keynote speaker at the NC-11 Democratic gala “deeply unfair” and fundamentally at odds with core party values.

Democratic Party is in disarray

To the Editor:

As we approach the 2026 mid-term elections, the political climate is marked by uncertainty for the Democratic Party. Confusion and disorder echo throughout their ranks, causing many to doubt the party’s sustainability. Meanwhile, the Republican Party has a unique opportunity to benefit from this chaos, provided it avoids complacency and overconfidence.

NC-11 Dems elect new chair

Just two weeks after western Republicans elected a new 11th Congressional District chair, their Democratic counterparts have now done the same.

Stunningly false mailers are absurd

To the Editor:

Medicare and Social Security are programs that have always been priorities of the Democratic Party. Democrats started these programs and supported them ever since, and pretty much constantly over the constant objection of Republicans.

Democrats are a danger to democracy

To the Editor:

There has been a lot said about democracy being on the ballot, but it’s mostly Democrat gasbaggery. The Democratic Party is the main threat to democracy because they are obviously afraid of it in action.

Democrats have come to a fork in the road

To the Editor:

The Democratic Party is in a pickle. Concocted by Democrats long departed, their present dilemma has been 60 years in the making and it is this: many rank-and-file Democrats today are uncertain that Joe Biden (because of his age and perhaps other factors) can weather the taxing responsibilities of the presidency for another full term.
