WNC Pottery Festival hits Dillsboro
The 8th annual Western North Carolina Pottery Festival takes place from 1-5 p.m. Nov. 2 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 3 in Dillsboro.
This year’s festival features 45 potters and hail from over a dozen states. Festival activities get underway Friday with the WNC Clay Olympics competition. 20 festival potters square off in contests to see who can make the largest cylinder and widest bowl, along with a two-minute blindfold competition. The main portion of the festival is Saturday, with potters demonstrating nonstop from their booths along Front Street. All festival attendees receive a free ticket for a daylong raffle, while a silent auction benefits a local charity that provides meals to needy families.
Admission is $3 per person, with children under the age of 12 admitted free.
