Mountain High BBQ Festival and Car Show comes to Franklin
Franklin will be hopping with all things barbecue when the fourth annual Mountain High BBQ Festival and Car Show comes to town Aug.10-11 at the Wayne Proffitt Agricultural Center located on Georgia Road in Franklin.
During the two-day event, teams from all across the country will cook Friday and Saturday, preparing their best barbecue hoping to be named Grand Champion in North Carolina. The festival is from 4-10 p.m. Aug. 10 and from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 11.
Saturday, Aug. 11, will feature the professional and backyard BBQ competitions and BI-LO’s “Tastin’ Tent,” which offers samples of the various barbeque entries. The “Tastin’ Tent” will start at 3 p.m.
Cars will be on display both days. Everyone is invited to enter his or her car, and registration forms can be found on the event website or at the Franklin Chamber of Commerce. The show is being organized by Koss Motor Sports and sponsored by Smoky Mountain Chevrolet.
The award ceremony for the car show and barbecue competitions will be at 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
All girls, from newborns to 16 years old, are invited to enter “The Glass Slipper Natural Beauty Pageant” at 1 p.m. Aug. 11. The attire for this pageant is a casual country/western look. Every contestant will be recognized on stage and will receive a trophy.
“Miss Mountain High BBQ Festival” will receive a sash, crown, 3-foot trophy and an invitation to ride in the Franklin Christmas Parade. Registration and guidelines are available on the website.
Festival admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. A two-day pass is available for $8.
