Masks optional in Macon schools

During an Oct. 25 meeting, Macon County Board of Education unanimously approved to allow students and staff to have the option of wearing a face covering.

This is a change in the school’s current policy of requiring face coverings. This policy change begins Oct. 26. As required, the Board of Education will revisit the face covering policy each month.

This policy change does not apply to school buses. Face coverings remain a federal mandate while on all public transportation, including school buses.
