Favorite Fall Events
Fall is an exciting, beautiful season in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Below is a roundup of some of the big events going on in the region.
Art on Main will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 26, in downtown Hendersonville.
Mountain Heritage Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, on the campus of Western Carolina University.
Dupont Forest Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Dupont Forest. The event is free and intended to celebrate the adventure, wilderness and beauty of Dupont State Recreational Forest.
French Broad River Festival will take place Oct. 1 through Oct. 3, in Hot Springs along the banks of the French Broad. There will be live music, camping and outdoor events.
Asheville Art in the Park will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the first three Saturdays in October in Pack Square Park in the center of downtown Asheville.

Colorfest will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Dillsboro. Over 40 artists will be demonstrating along Front Street and galleries will be open for browsing.
Grit & Grace: Balsam Range Flood Relief Benefit Concert will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Sorrells Street Park in downtown canton. The event is to not only raise funds for those in need following the devastating flood waters in August in the communities of Canton, Cruso, Bethel and Clyde, but also to provide a moment to gather together as neighbors and friends and enjoy some live music.
Veganfest will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oc.t 3, in Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville. There will be live music, vendors, food trucks and more.
Church Street Art and Craft Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in downtown Waynesville.
Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands will take place Thursday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 17, in downtown Asheville.
The LEAF Festival will take place Thursday, Oct. 14 through Sunday, Oct. 17, in Black Mountain.
Apple Harvest Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, in downtown Waynesville.
The Woolly Worm Festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17, in Banner Elk.
Maggie Valley Fall Arts and Crafts Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 and Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Festival Grounds in Maggie Valley.
Smoky Mountains Bluegrass Festival will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds.
