On July 19, Haywood County commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider granting economic development incentives to Drake that would result in a 48 to 58 percent rebate of property taxes paid by Drake over the next five fiscal years. The incentives are based on the county’s economic development policy, which determines the amount of incentives on a sliding scale commensurate with the number of jobs created, the amount of capital investment, and other factors.
