Macon volleyball game attendees could have been exposed
Macon County Public Health has identified possible exposure to COVID-19 among those who attended a volleyball game at Franklin High School gym from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 10.
Those who attended should monitor themselves for COVID-19 like symptoms and call Macon County Public Health if they feel they need testing at 828-349-2517. In addition, anyone who attended and is not experiencing symptoms, and still wants to be tested, should wait until Friday 10-16-20 to be tested, or later.
Possible symptoms of COVID-19 are fever (greater than 100.4), cough, shortness of breath, absence of taste or smell, diarrhea, headaches, and other flu-like symptoms. It is possible to have COVID-19 and have no symptoms, therefore it is important to be tested when you have had a possible exposure to the virus.
The entire state of North Carolina is under a “Safer at Home” executive order, currently under phase 3 with masks required to be worn when social distancing cannot be maintained. Older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19; however, anyone of any age can become infected with this illness. Therefore, we ask that community members strictly follow the governor’s orders and continue to practice social distancing, as well as safe hygiene measures such as hand washing and frequently cleaning touched objects and surfaces. The public can monitor the different phases of re-opening and learn more about the restrictions at
