Haywood extends manager contract
Despite hiring challenges that persist across the region, Haywood County Commissioners had no trouble re-engaging a key employee June 19.
County Manager Ira Dove has been with the county for some time now, and has served as manager since 2014; at their last meeting, commissioners gave Dove a new contract worth $144,000 a year plus benefits and a $600 monthly vehicle allowance.
The county will also pay for Dove’s cell phone, all professional certifications, continuing education and the maintenance of his law license.
Dove will be subject to a yearly performance evaluation, which could result in bonuses or increases in salary; he can be terminated without cause with seven days notice from the county, and can resign by giving 30 days of notice to the county, but his contract specifies no set term of employment.
