State solar tax credit to disappear

out solarThe North Carolina Legislature did not renew the state’s solar tax credit, which will now expire on Dec. 31.

That means that people counting on applying the credit for their new solar systems will need to have them in place and approved by Duke Energy before November to be eligible. The 30 percent federal credit will remain in effect, however.

Solarize WNC, an initiative to connect people wanting to get started in solar with the information and discounted prices to make it happen, will continue to be a source of information about the rules and regs surrounding solar.
