Experience the elk rut
An excursion to witness the peak of the elk rut in Cataloochee Valley will set out Wednesday, Sept. 23, part of the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust’s Eco Tours series.
The day will include a hands-on orientation by a member of the elk-centered volunteer group Bugle Corps, a guided hike and lunch on the trail. And, of course, the opportunity to witness the wild and dramatic mating rituals of the elk.
