Conservation groups plan river float trip
A float trip down the Little Tennessee River on May 16 is being sponsored by two land conservation organizations, the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust and the Land Trust for the Little Tennessee (LTLT).
A limited number of canoes and of kayaks will be available for a 4.5-mile trip down the river to the 4,800-acre Needmore Game Lands, LTLT’s flagship conservation project. Along the route are Cherokee cultural sites, stream restoration sites, and wildlife, which may include bald eagles and river otters.
