Pancakes popular with AT hikers
Appalachian Trail hikers in search of a satisfying meal found it at the First Baptist Church of Franklin this year — 633 of them, representing 44 states and seven foreign countries.
Since 2008, the church has served a free hiker breakfast during the four peak weeks of thru-hiker traffic. In addition to the meal, hikers get their picture taken and a stamped envelope to send it home to a loved one. The church has also joined with several other locations along the A.T. to develop a passport stamp to help hikers remember the places they’ve visited along the way.
