Running for support
More than 350 runners streamed down Main Street in downtown Waynesville last Friday evening for the annual Main Street Mile. Top male runners crossed the finish line in just over 4 minutes.
These runners who ran the mile wearing full firemen’s turn-out gear weren’t among them, however. The gluttons for punishment include Chris Bowers of the Savannah Volunteer fire department and his friend Josh Moss, owner of Catamount Crossfit, who threw in partly for the challenge and partly for moral support. The race raised $5,000 for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Greenville.
