Loretta Lynn to play Franklin
Country icon Loretta Lynn will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 6, at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin.
A music legend for over 50 years, Lynn has been designated the First Woman of Country Music. She is the most awarded woman in country music. Lynn has earned four Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, eight Broadcast Music Incorporated awards, twelve Academy of Country Music awards and twenty-six fan-voted Music City News awards. She was the first woman in country music to receive a certified gold album, the first woman to be named Entertainer of the Year by the Country Music Association and the first female country music artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999. Lynn has written over 160 songs, released 60 albums and sold 45 million records worldwide.
