Good times at Tube World
Tube World in Maggie Valley treated 170 students from Clyde Elementary to a fieldtrip last week as part of a creative school incentive program to encourage positive behavior.
To form the “Cardinal Club,” teachers nominate students who demonstrate good behavior, good work ethic and good attendance. Each quarter, students who make the Cardinal Club get a special program. The ranks grew from 150 to 170 from the first to second quarter, a sign that the incentive is working, according to Joy Sollie, Clyde Elementary school counselor.
“We feel that reward is going to increase positive behavior more than punishment,” Sollie said.
Tube World opened up 10 tubing lanes just for the students.
