Esteemed brass quintet to perform in Cullowhee
The Smoky Mountain Brass Quintet, the quintet-in-residence at Western Carolina University, will present its final concert of the spring semester at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building on campus.
One of the pieces will be “Blue Ridge Suite,” composed last year by Bruce Frazier, WCU’s Carol Grotnes Belk Distinguished Professor of Commercial and Electronic Music. The four-movement composition accompanies a slideshow of scenes from the Southern Appalachian Mountains.
SMBQ’s travels this summer will include tours in Germany and the Czech Republic, including conducting clinics at the Prague Conservatory.
The event is free and open to the public.
