Mountain Heritage Center jam series continues
The 2012-13 First Thursday Old-Time and Bluegrass Jam Series will conclude with Phil and Gaye Johnson at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Mountain Heritage Center at Western Carolina University.
Playing guitar, mandolin, dobro and harmonica, and featuring tight harmonies, the couple regularly performs and teaches at major music events across the country. They also have appeared on many syndicated radio and television programs over the years, including “A Prairie Home Companion.”
The Johnsons’ performance is free and open to the public. It will be followed by an 8 p.m. jam session in which local musicians are invited to participate. Pickers and singers of all ages and experience levels are invited to take part in the jam session that will follow the concert, and the activities also are open to those who want to listen.
The 2013-14 concert/jam series at the Mountain Heritage Center will begin in October.
