Canton resident Caleb Henson was part of a class of N.C. State Fair junior livestock show winners that drew a record $190,000 in revenues at the Junior Livestock Sale of Champions Oct. 13 in Raleigh.ย

The N.C. Farm Bureau and Iron Horse Auction purchased his reserve champion meat goat for $7,000, and Powers Great American Midways bought his grand champion Got to Be N.C. meat goat for $15,500.

The youth receive 60 percent of the purchase amount, with the remaining 40 percent supporting youth scholarships and youth livestock educational programs in North Carolina. Since the scholarship programโ€™s inception in 2015, nearly $225,000 has been awarded to students continuing their education.ย
