Folkmoot USA will present world-renowned American cellist and composer Michael Fitzpatrick at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Folkmoot Friendship Center in Waynesville.ย

The performance will feature Fitzpatrickโ€™s own โ€œInvocation of the Earth,โ€ classical favorites, folk songs and selections from the popular songbook. Fitzpatrick has been called an innovator, a synergist and a musical diplomat. He has planted himself in the forefront of a movement that encourages world peace through music, something he sees as the musical wave of the future.

Hailed by the New York Times as possessing โ€œvirtuosity and an ear for musical dialogueโ€ and by NPR as โ€œan interpreter of the Muse,โ€ Fitzpatrick has performed the musical keynotes for the Dalai Lamaโ€™s public talks and for Pope Francisโ€™ Blessing Ceremony at The Vatican.

Admission is โ€œpay what you can,โ€ with suggested donations ranging from $0 to $22 per person. Doors open at 6 p.m. The Sabora food truck will also be onsite.
