Highlands-based entrepreneur Ashley Mills reached out to feel the soft, pebbled leather of the handbag in front of her. She turned one of the bag’s tassels over in her hands, inspecting the elegant brass hardware.
It’s her favorite out of the dozens of designer bags for sale in her collection. This one’s a Chloe. It has sold out online. Mills has priced it at $1,995.00.
“She’s timeless. She’s classic. You can wear her for 50 years.”

Mills has always loved purses. She doesn’t know where it came from. Her mom, a postal worker and single mother, didn’t care much for fashion. But as a little girl, Mills remembers folding up paper grocery bags like a formal evening clutch. She loved playing dress-up. She still loves it. “You get to be whoever you want to be,” Mills said.
