Migratory fame bird seasons announced

N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission has announced the approved season dates, bag limits and applicable regulations for the 2026-27 waterfowl, webless migratory game bird (including doves) and extended falconry seasons. The dates and associated regulations are available on the agency’s website and will be published in the 2026-2027 Inland Fishing, Hunting and Trapping Regulations Digest this August.

Most seasons remain unchanged from the previous year, but there are some notable changes, including:

• The bag limit for Canada geese in the Northeast Hunt Zone has increased from one to two (subject to final federal approval of 2026-2027 regulations).
• The Regular Light Goose Season will open two weeks later than last year on Nov. 7 and close on March 10.
• The option for the 2027 Light Goose Conservation Order will be determined in fall 2026 and published on the agency’s website when a final decision is made.
