The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation recently appointed new board officers and members to the organization’s Board of Trustees and Council of Advisors.

The group will provide leadership for the nonprofit organization, which partners with the National Park Service to preserve and enhance the country’s most-visited national park unit. 

The Board of Trustees elected the following officers:

• Former Vice Chair Sam Johnson of Dahlonega, Ga., was elected chair of the Board of Trustees. He is a partner with Nautilus Strategy Group.
• Former Secretary James Houchins of Stuart, Va., was named vice chair. He is the director of tourism & marketing for Patrick County.
• Roberts Bass of Winston-Salem and Meadows of Dan, Va., was selected to be treasurer. He serves as a fractional CFO.
• Marsha Ralls Hershman of Asheville was selected to be secretary. She is the Founder and CEO of The Phoenix Wellness Retreat.

The Council of Advisors most recently welcomed Melissa Booth, Katy Clune, Rob Griffin, Daniel Key, Omari Simmons and Zoe van Buren.
