Waynesville hosts open house for master plan

Waynesville hosts open house for master plan

Waynesville is inviting residents to attend a second open house for its parks  and recreation Master Plan on from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the Waynesville Recreation Center.

Following an initial round of public input earlier this year, this second open house will give community members an opportunity to review draft recommendations shaped by that feedback and help refine priorities that will guide improvements and investment in Waynesville’s parks and recreation system over the next 10 years.

Held in a drop-in format, the open house allows residents to stop by to learn more about the planning process, view preliminary action items, and share additional input before the master plan is finalized.

The master plan is a 10-year vision that will serve as a roadmap for future investments in parks, facilities, recreation opportunities, trails, accessibility and quality-of-life amenities throughout Waynesville.

Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend and continue being part of the planning process.

At our inception 20 years ago, we chose to be different. Unlike other news organizations, we made the decision to provide in-depth, regional reporting free to anyone who wanted access to it. We don’t plan to change that model. Support from our readers will help us maintain and strengthen the editorial independence that is crucial to our mission to help make Western North Carolina a better place to call home. If you are able, please support The Smoky Mountain News.
