Smoky Mountain High School baseball team held a special “Youth Night” Thursday night to give the kids a wonderful experience with the varsity players.
Little League and youth players enjoyed an on-field experience at the Smoky Mountain baseball field just prior to the game between the Smoky Mountain Mustangs and the Tuscola Mountaineers.
Boys and girls were admitted free to the game, got to meet the players, and even stand with them during the playing of “The National Anthem.” The kids also signed a banner signifying themselves at “Future Mustangs.” Each also received a Smoky Mountain Baseball wristband.
One student got to be a part of a special ceremonial first pitch, followed by the youngsters lining up with varsity players for the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
The Mustangs fought hard but came up a run short with a tough loss with a score of 9-8 to the Mountaineers.
