On Sunday, July 6, with the cooperation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the North Shore Cemetery Association will host decorations at Proctor and Bradshaw cemeteries.

The first boat shuttle will leave at 8:30 a.m. and the last boat leaves at 10 a.m. from the Cable Cove Boating Access Area off N.C. 28 near Fontana Village.

• Participants are asked to wear sturdy footwear and clothing suitable for hiking and outdoor activities.

• Decorations are held rain or shine.

• Participants may bring lunch, snacks and drinks, or a dish or two to share with those who potluck.

• Pets are not allowed in accordance with Park regulations, and service animals must be vested and muzzled if they bite.

• Participants are asked to stay with the group.

Access to Proctor (200+ graves) will be made from the west side of Hazel Creek, which will be about 100 yards of moderately steep trail and steps. Bradshaw (16 graves) is an additional 1-mile hike, and the last half is steep.

Mobility assistance will be available for Proctor Cemetery, but limited assistance will be available for Bradshaw provided conditions are not too wet, slick or muddy.
