Trump’s pardons are a farce
To the Editor:
“The prior administration failed in its duty to protect the American people by refusing to pursue and carry out the ultimate punishment against the most dangerous criminals, including terrorists, child murderers and cop killers,” Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a statement. “Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Justice is once again enforcing the law and standing with victims.”
In my view, Acting AG Todd Blanche, who was also appointed by Trump at the same time and unlawfully, of course, as Librarian of Congress, is obviously addressing, in the first paragraph, not the previous administration, but the current.
I will remember Todd Blanche as Trump’s personal attorney and for his actions with the convicted trafficker/predator Ghislaine Maxwell, moving the criminal to a “Club Fed” and providing her with amenities upon request. Truly, the GOP has come to stand for “guard our predators”.
The Trump administration has failed, in countless ways, to meet its Constitutional responsibilities to the United States. We have all observed Trump’s commutation and subsequent pardoning of the terrorist insurrectionists whom he incited to assault our nation’s capitol and injure and kill law enforcement officers.
Trump’s DOJ has moved to vacate the convictions of the most egregious of these insurrectionists. It is important to note that vacating a conviction will result in these criminals having their records expunged and their Second Amendment rights reinstated. Even more absurdly, their actions on January 6 cannot be presented as evidence in their trials regarding future offenses.

Does anyone doubt that these actions by Trump are a precursor to further electoral fraud? I do not.
