Stand against the darkness

To the Editor:

Adam Smith, GOP primary candidate for Congress in the 11th district, had this to say about actual legitimate rallies or protests: “Let’s define it — ‘terror’ is the use of violence or the threat of violence and/or intimidation in order to advance a religious, political or societal ideology, and that’s what we’re seeing firsthand right now in Minneapolis,” he said.

“A large group of people using the threat of violence and intimidation against anyone they suspect to be in support of — or be members of — ICE, in all my experience around the world, we would call that terrorism. We would call them insurrectionists.”

Mr. Smith is singing the same song as the rest of his party of Trump do-wrongers. The problem with his "We” is his and his GOP’s denial of basic constitutional rights. We the people know actual terrorism, such as the federal thugs in Minnesota and elsewhere have shown the U.S., in violation of basic human rights as well as violations of law. The GOP way is clear: pardon murderers on the one hand, while murdering, with their own special mercenary force, occupants of these United States.

Protesting is a constitutional right and privilege. Terrorizing and murdering U. S. occupants is not. The rule of law is of no importance to Trump and his minions.

Stand up with and for the U.S. and not for the darkness that has overtaken the GOP.
