Erin Hubbard, interim director of retail at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center since October 2025, is now in the role on a permanent basis.
Hubbard is responsible for managing and overseeing sales revenue, daily operations, staffing, scheduling, merchandising, purchasing and budgets for all of Lake Junaluska’s retail outlets.
A resident of Clyde, Hubbard joined the staff at Lake Junaluska in March 2023 as retail sales and operations manager. She has previous management experience in the food and beverage industry and retail grocery businesses, including leadership roles with the Whole Foods Market corporation in North Carolina and Colorado.
The recent staffing update was announced by Michael Huber, general manager at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center.
“Erin stood out among other candidates because of her deep knowledge of our organization, her strong leadership skills and her ability to connect with both staff and guests,” Huber said.
“She’s been a consistent performer and really understands what makes Lake Junaluska unique. Her promotion is a great example of how we value developing our own people and providing opportunities for advancement,” he added.

Hubbard said she feels honored to be advancing within the Lake Junaluska organization and that she has begun the process of getting her feet wet as she adjusts to her new responsibilities.
“I am really excited to see what I can bring to the table. I am focusing on learning the new position, taking on small things as I learn the position and then moving on to larger projects,” she said.
“On down the road, I plan to continue to find local vendors for our retail locations that set our shops apart and working toward expanding our selections for the coffee bar,” Hubbard said. “We would like to focus on locally made, American-made and fair-trade items.”
The resort and conference center’s retail establishments include Junaluska Gifts & Grounds and the markets at The Terrace hotel, historic Lambuth Inn and the recreation area.
