Question: My friend thinks that brown eggs are better for her. Is that true?
Answer: The color of the shell of the egg is due to the breed of chicken and has nothing to do with the nutritional quality of the egg itself. Some breeds of chicken produce white eggs, some lay brown eggs and some lay eggs that are blue/green or even speckled in color!
Bottom Line: Eggs are an inexpensive and versatile source of protein—don't be swayed or confused by the color of the egg shell itself—and definitely don't pay more for eggs based on the color of the shell! 1 large egg has 70 calories and 6 grams of protein.
