Expanded business counseling offered at HCC

The Haywood Community College Small Business Center has announced an expansion in business services. Beginning June 1, the SBC will begin offering free expanded counseling services to Haywood County small business owners affected by the COVID-19 health crisis.

In coordination with the NC Small Business Center Network and Haywood County business resource partners, the HCC SBC will launch the Reboot, Recover, Rebuild for Small Business. The program will offer expanded counseling opportunities in a wealth of categories uniquely suited for small businesses in Haywood County who have been affected by the economic effects of COVID-19.

In direct response to the COVID-19 economic crisis, North Carolina’s General Assembly passed H1043, providing additional funding to Small Business Centers with the express goal of providing counseling services to businesses affected by the pandemic. The program, made possible by this funding, will provide free expanded counseling, coaching, information and resources to local small business owners impacted by COVID-19.

“The COVID crisis has had a profound impact on small business. Shifting operational requirements, regulations, market perception and the small business climate alike are forcing many small business owners to take a step back, evaluate the field, pivot and punt,” said Katy Gould, Director of the Haywood Community College Small Business Center. “The Program is an excellent opportunity to provide focused counseling support to small business owners with the in-depth assistance needed to address their unique business needs as they reboot, recover, and rebuild.”

Small businesses are experiencing a time of unparalleled need, where challenges like managing employees, understanding the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) or other loan repayment requirements, and/or marketing their business in a rapidly changing consumer landscape are at the forefront. It is also a time of opportunity, where changing needs for services and supplies create new entrepreneurial spaces for creative and innovative individuals and teams.

The Reboot, Recover, Rebuild Program was created to address such concerns and opportunities by providing consulting services in the form of CPA, legal, marketing, branding, stability, and general business support. Applicants will also have access to professional content experts, one-on-one remote counsel, and 100 percent confidentiality.

This HCC SBC Reboot, Recover, Rebuild Program is open to any Haywood County small business affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Interested businesses are encouraged to apply.
