5K paired with WCU’s Mountain Heritage Day

out 5KA 5K race will be held at Western Carolina University at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, as part of festivities for the annual Mountain Heritage Day festival. 

Mountain Heritage Day is a combination old-fashioned mountain fair and showcase for Southern Appalachian music, arts, dance and song, with the atmosphere of a big family reunion.

The race starts at the McKee Building and travels through campus. Cost is $15 or $25 on race day. Only $10 for students. The first 250 registrants are guaranteed a race t-shirt.

I know, birders out there are rolling their eyes — to start a count at 9 a.m. is like missing half the day, but there are caveats.
